U.S. stocks closed mostly higher Wednesday, as a rally in technology shares lifted the Nasdaq to its latest in a series of records, though the Dow extended a recent losing streak to a seventh straight session. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 42.41 points, or 0.17%, to 24,657.80. The S&P 500 rose 4.73 points, or 0.17%, to 2,767.32. The Nasdaq Composite gained 55.93 points, or 0.72%, to 7,781.51.
Prices for U.S. benchmark oil futures settled with a gain Wednesday, after U.S. government data revealed the biggest weekly decline in U.S. crude supplies since January. August West Texas Intermediate crude tacked on 81 cents, or nearly 1.3%, to $65.71. August Brent oil lost 34 cents, or nearly 0.5%, to finish at $74.74 a barrel.
