Stocks Ended Higher, Oil Prices Fell

U.S. stocks ended higher on Wednesday after China announced it would be suspending additional tariffs on some American imports.The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 227.61 points, or 0.85%, to 27,137.04. The S&P 500 index advanced 21.54 points, or 0.72%, to 3,000.93. The Nasdaq Composite gained 85.52 points, or 1.06%, to 8,169.68.
Oil futures declined on Wednesday, settling at their lowest in about a week, as a report that President Donald Trump is considering easing sanctions on Iran raised the possibility of the return of the country’s crude to the world market. West Texas Intermediate crude for October delivery fell $1.65, or 2.9%, to settle at $55.75 a barrel. November Brent crude lost $1.57, or 2.5%, to $60.81 a barrel.
