Stocks Ended Higher Friday and Gained for the Week

U.S. stocks ended slightly higher on Friday, keeping weekly gains intact, with the investors assessing conflicting narratives on progress in Sino-American trade talks. The Dow Jones Industrial Average picked up 6.44 points, or 0.02%, to 27,681.24. The S&P 500 was up 7.90 points, or 0.26%, to 3,093.08. The Nasdaq Composite gained 40.80 points, or 0.48%, to 8,475.31. For the week, the Dow was up 1.2%, the S&P 500 was up 0.9%, and the Nasdaq was up 1.1%.
Oil futures settled higher on Friday to score a weekly rise, as traders gauged expectations for energy demand against conflicting news tied to China-U.S. trade talks. West Texas Intermediate crude for December delivery rose 9 cents, or 0.2%, to settle at $57.24 a barrel and rose almost 1.9% for the week. January Brent crude climbed 22 cents, or 0.4%, to $62.51 a barrel and rose 1.3% for the week.
