U.S. stocks opened higher on Tuesday and Treasury yields broadly increased after a curve inversion on Friday spooked investors. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lately rose 234.35 points, or 0.92%, to 25,751.18. The S&P 500 added 25.37 points, or 0.91%, to 2,823.73. The Nasdaq Composite gained 79.13 points, or 1.04%, to 7,716.68.
Oil prices snapped back Tuesday as recent moves to soak up excess global supply—led by OPEC, as well as outages in Iran and Venezuela as a result of U.S. sanctions— buoyed prices. West Texas Intermediate crude for May delivery was up 72 cents, or 1.2%, at $59.54 a barrel. May Brent crude tacked on 53 cents, or 0.8%, to $67.74 a barrel.
Home price growth has decelerated to its slowest pace since 2015. Standard & Poor’s said Tuesday that its S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller national home price index posted a 4.3% annual gain in January, down from 4.6% a month earlier.
