Company Description

AmerisourceBergen Corporation (ABC) operates as a prominent global distributor and procurer of pharmaceutical products. Its core business is structured around two main segments. The Pharmaceutical Distribution division is responsible for the extensive supply of both brand-name and generic medicines, alongside over-the-counter health items, and equipment for home healthcare. This segment extends its services to a wide array of healthcare entities, including acute care hospitals, integrated health systems, independent and chain retail pharmacies, mail-order drug providers, medical clinics, and facilities offering long-term care or alternative site pharmacy services. Beyond product distribution, it offers comprehensive pharmacy management and staffing solutions, consulting expertise, and specialized supply chain software tailored for both retail and institutional healthcare settings. Furthermore, ABC provides bespoke packaging services. This division also manages the distribution of vital plasma and blood products, various injectable pharmaceuticals, vaccines, and other specialty medications. It furnishes support services primarily to physicians specializing in areas like oncology, as well as to hospitals and dialysis centers, while also delivering critical data analytics, outcomes research, and supplementary services to biotechnology and pharmaceutical manufacturers. The Other segment encompasses a range of integrated services for manufacturers, spanning clinical trial assistance, post-approval support, and commercialization strategies for new products. It also manages specialized transportation and logistics crucial for the biopharmaceutical sector. Additionally, this segment supplies pharmaceuticals, vaccines, parasiticides, diagnostic tools, and micro feed ingredients to both companion animal and production animal markets. It further aids manufacturers by providing sales force services aimed at generating demand. AmerisourceBergen Corporation was established in 2001 and maintains its headquarters in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania.
