Altra Industrial Motion Corp. specializes in the engineering, manufacturing, and global distribution of electromechanical components vital for power transmission and motion control. These solutions cater to a broad spectrum of motion-dependent applications, including high-volume industrial production and other non-manufacturing operations. The company is structured into two primary business segments: Power Transmission Technologies (PTT) and Automation & Specialty (A&S). The PTT segment provides a comprehensive line of couplings, encompassing gear, diaphragm, disc, elastomeric, miniature, precision, and universal joints, along with mill spindles and shaft locking devices. These are marketed under established brand names such as Ameridrives, Bibby, Guardian, Huco, Lamiflex, Stromag, and TB Wood's. Additionally, this segment produces a variety of clutches and brakes, offered under labels like Industrial Clutch, Formsprag, Stieber, Stromag, Svendborg, Twiflex, and Wichita, as well as electromagnetic clutch and brake systems from brands including Inertia Dynamics, Matrix, Stromag, and Warner Electric. Its gear offerings include products from Bauer Gear Motor, Boston Gear, Delroyd, and Nuttall. Conversely, the A&S segment delivers advanced rotary precision motion solutions. Under the Kollmorgen brand, it supplies servo and stepper motors, high-precision linear actuators, electronic drives, motion controllers, and associated software. This segment further provides miniature motors and various motion control devices, such as brush and brushless DC, can stack, and disc magnet motors, through the Portescap brand. Under the Thomson and Nook brands, the A&S division also offers components for converting rotary into linear motion, including linear bearings, guides, glides, lead and ball screws, industrial linear actuators, resolvers, and inductors. Altra Industrial Motion serves a wide international customer base, spanning North America, various European countries (including Germany), and Asian markets such as China. Originally incorporated in 2004 as Altra Holdings, Inc., the company adopted its current name, Altra Industrial Motion Corp., in November 2013.
