Amtech Systems, Inc. (ASYS) is a global provider specializing in the production and sale of advanced capital equipment and associated consumables. These offerings are crucial for manufacturing a diverse array of electronic components, including silicon carbide (SiC) and silicon power devices, analog and discrete devices, electronic assemblies, and light-emitting diodes (LEDs). The company's operations are structured around two primary divisions: 1. The Semiconductor Segment: This division focuses on developing, producing, marketing, and supporting thermal processing systems. Its product line includes solder reflow ovens, diffusion furnaces, and custom high-temperature belt furnaces, which are essential for semiconductor fabrication, as well as applications in electronics, automotive, and other industrial sectors. Additionally, this segment provides equipment and services for wafer polishing. 2. The Material and Substrate Segment: This segment manufactures and supplies both machinery and consumables specifically designed for the precise lapping and polishing of various materials. These materials encompass silicon wafers for semiconductor products; sapphire substrates utilized in LED lighting and mobile technology; silicon carbide wafers for LED and power device applications; different glass and silica components for 3D image transmission; quartz and ceramic components for telecommunications devices; and specialized parts for medical devices, optical, and photonics applications. This division also produces substrate process chemicals vital for diverse manufacturing processes, including those for semiconductors, silicon and compound semiconductor wafers, and optics. Amtech Systems distributes its products globally through a combination of its own direct sales force and an extensive network of independent sales representatives and distributors. Founded in 1981 and headquartered in Tempe, Arizona, the company initially operated as Quartz Engineering & Materials, Inc. before officially adopting the name Amtech Systems, Inc. in 1987.
