The Home Health and Hospice segment primarily serves the Southeast and Texas regions. Within this segment, home health services encompass a variety of Medicare-certified care options for adult patients, including skilled nursing, medical social work, home health aide assistance, and various therapies like physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Hospice services, on the other hand, provide in-home comfort and support for terminally ill patients and their families. As of June 1, 2022, Encompass Health maintained a substantial network, managing 149 hospitals, 252 home health locations, and 99 hospice locations spread across 42 U.S. states and Puerto Rico. The company, which established its roots in 1983 and is headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, was formerly known as HealthSouth Corporation until its name change to Encompass Health Corporation in January 2018.
