Company Description

Lydall, Inc. is a global enterprise that develops, produces, and sells highly specialized engineered materials. Its core offerings encompass advanced filtration media, industrial thermal insulation solutions, and thermal and acoustic barriers predominantly for the automotive sector. These products are vital for various filtration, separation, thermal management, and sound control applications across the globe. The company's operations are structured into three key business divisions: Performance Materials, Technical Nonwovens, and Thermal Acoustical Solutions. The Performance Materials segment is dedicated to providing filtration media for air, fluid power, and diverse industrial uses, including clean-room environments, commercial spaces, HVAC systems, power generation, respiratory protection, and general industrial processes. This division also supplies nonwoven veils, specialized papers, and composite materials to the construction, appliance, energy, and broader industrial markets. Additionally, it develops life sciences filtration products, crucial for biopharmaceutical pre-filtration and clarification, diagnostic and analytical testing, water purification, and high-purity process filtration. The Technical Nonwovens segment focuses on manufacturing nonwoven felt media, typically provided in rolled goods, and filter bags. These are primarily employed in industrial air and liquid filtration systems. Lastly, the Thermal Acoustical Solutions segment engineers products specifically for the transportation industry. These solutions are designed to protect sensitive vehicle components from extreme heat, enhance exhaust gas treatment, reduce harmful emissions, and mitigate noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH). Their applications are extensive, covering components such as dash insulators, cabin flooring, wheel wells, aerodynamic belly pans, fuel tanks, exhaust systems, tunnels, spare tire compartments, engine compartments, outer dashes, powertrains, catalytic converters, turbochargers, and manifolds. These products are integrated into a wide array of vehicles, including passenger cars, light and heavy-duty trucks, SUVs, and recreational vehicles. This segment further provides thermal and acoustical insulation materials crafted from both organic and inorganic fiber composites. Lydall markets its products directly to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier-1 suppliers through its dedicated internal sales force and an extensive distribution network. Founded in 1879, Lydall, Inc. is headquartered in Manchester, Connecticut.
