Its foremost objective is to generate current income, with capital appreciation serving as a complementary aim. The fund allocates a substantial part of its assets to a variety of mortgage-linked securities. It also has the latitude to hold common equities, including shares received from the conversion of other securities within its portfolio. PKO may commit up to 40% of its total assets to bank loans, such as senior loans, delayed funding agreements, and revolving credit facilities. Additionally, it has the option to invest up to 40% of its total capital in securities from issuers economically connected to developing nations. Its investment holdings are distributed across a range of sectors, including U.S. government-related assets, various types of mortgage-backed securities (both agency and non-agency), high-yield credit instruments, and exposures to emerging markets, among others. Pacific Investment Management Company LLC is responsible for managing the fund's investments.
