The company structures its operations into two key business units: Proterra Powered and Energy, and Proterra Transit. The Proterra Powered and Energy division is responsible for engineering, manufacturing, marketing, and integrating battery systems and electrification solutions. These are delivered to commercial vehicle original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) for a wide array of applications, including delivery trucks, school buses, coach buses, and heavy equipment for construction and mining. Additionally, this unit provides comprehensive, high-capacity charging infrastructure for fleets, alongside a suite of software services. These services encompass everything from fleet and energy management software-as-a-service (SaaS) to strategic fleet planning, hardware supply, infrastructure deployment, installation support, utility engagement, and charge optimization. Concurrently, the Proterra Transit business unit functions as an OEM, focusing on the design, production, and sale of electric transit buses. Its primary clientele includes North American public transit agencies, airports, universities, and various other commercial transit fleet operators.
