The firm organizes its operations across six main divisions: Capital Markets, Wealth Management, Financial Consulting, Auction and Liquidation, Communications, and Consumer. Its Capital Markets segment delivers investment banking, corporate finance, equity research, wealth management, and sales and trading services to a diverse clientele, including corporations, institutional investors, and affluent individuals. The Wealth Management division provides retail brokerage, investment portfolio management, insurance offerings, and tax preparation services. Financial Consulting specializes in a broad spectrum of expert advisory, encompassing areas such as corporate distress (bankruptcy, restructuring, turnaround management), forensic accounting, crisis and litigation support, asset appraisal and valuation, real estate guidance, and operations management. The Auction and Liquidation segment is dedicated to retail asset disposition services. The Communications division consists of a portfolio of businesses strategically acquired for their attractive risk-adjusted investment potential. Finally, the Consumer segment includes the Targus brand and its "Brands" investment portfolio. Founded in 1973, the company maintains its headquarters in Los Angeles, California.
