This segment also provides comprehensive supply chain services, covering procurement, logistics, inventory management, temporary storage, programming, kitting, and packaging. The Intelligent Platforms Solutions segment focuses on high-performance computing (HPC) and edge computing. Through its Penguin Computing brand, it caters to clients in finance, energy, government, social media, and education sectors. Its Penguin Edge solutions address diverse applications in government, telecommunications, healthcare, smart cities, network edge environments, and industrial settings. This segment delivers a wide array of hardware and software, including Open Compute Project-based solutions, various servers (such as rackmount and GPU-accelerated platforms), integrated turn-key clusters, enterprise-grade storage systems (including Open Compute Tundra Extreme Scale products and other turn-key options), and networking infrastructure. These offerings are available as both physical hardware and cloud-based services via Penguin-On-Demand. Finally, the LED Solutions segment, operating under the CreeLED brand, produces application-optimized light-emitting diodes for general lighting, video displays, and specific illumination requirements. SGH distributes its products directly to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), enterprise customers, government agencies, and other end-users. Its sales channels include a dedicated direct sales force, e-commerce platforms, customer service representatives, on-site field application engineers, independent sales representatives, distributors, integrators, and resellers. The company, originally incorporated as Saleen Holdings, Inc., adopted the name SMART Global Holdings, Inc. in August 2014. Founded in 1988, SMART Global Holdings maintains its headquarters in Newark, California.
