South Jersey Industries, Inc. (SJI) operates as a comprehensive energy solutions provider, delivering various products and services through its subsidiary companies. Its core business involves the acquisition, transmission, and distribution of natural gas. SJI supplies natural gas and offers pipeline transportation capacity on a wholesale basis to a diverse client base, including residential, commercial, and industrial customers connected to the interstate pipeline network. Additionally, the company facilitates the transport of natural gas procured directly from producers or other suppliers to its end-users. As of December 31, 2021, SJI maintained an extensive infrastructure in southern New Jersey, featuring approximately 147 miles of transmission lines and 6,815 miles of distribution mains. This network served a substantial customer base of 384,062 residential, commercial, and industrial accounts. Beyond direct customer service, SJI engages in the wholesale marketing of natural gas storage, commodity products, and transportation infrastructure. These services are provided to a range of industry participants, such as energy marketers, electric and gas utilities, power generation facilities, and natural gas producers throughout the Mid-Atlantic, Appalachian, and southern regions of the United States. The company also maintains and operates a portfolio of rooftop solar power generation sites. Furthermore, SJI holds oil, gas, and mineral rights within Pennsylvania's Marcellus Shale formation. It procures and supplies natural gas and electricity directly to retail consumers and offers comprehensive energy services, including management, fuel optimization, and strategies for energy procurement and cost reduction. Established in 1910, South Jersey Industries, Inc. maintains its corporate headquarters in Folsom, New Jersey.
